Prof. Dr. Polina Verbytska is a Professor of History at the Department of History, Museum Studies, and Cultural Heritage of Lviv Polytechnic National University. Her research focuses on cultural heritage, memory, and identity.
Prof. Verbytska was granted a fellowship from the "Scholars in Residence Program" of the Deutsches Museum.
Her project "Conflicting Memories and Competing Narratives in Conflict and Post-Conflict Societies" will examine museum exhibitions, memorials, and monuments that commemorate the experience of war and conflicts in Europe in connection to identity issues, contested heritage, and collective processes of remembering in order to develop a comparative perspective that can contribute to the scientific discourse about further sociopolitical reconciliation initiatives in Ukraine.
Prof. Verbytska has been associated with the Collegium Carolinum Munich as a visiting scholar since September 2022.
